About us

The Church Hill Theatre began its existence as Morningside High Church, designed in the late 1800s by Scottish architect Hippolyte Blanc. It was converted into a theatre in the 1960s and in the time since has become renowned as one of Scotland’s leading non-professional theatres. As well as being home to many of Edinburgh’s amateur theatrical companies, it is a popular venue for the Edinburgh International Festival.

Owned by the City of Edinburgh Council, the venue is available for event hire (where performance programming allows) and is ideal for theatre and dance performances, concerts, talks and small conferences.
